THE MISSION
The mission was to develop a future modern membership for Riksbyggen, one of Sweden's largest property managers, and to build engagement in the journey of change. As a cooperative, membership is a central part of the company's DNA.
The purpose of the project was:
To increase the perceived value of membership among members and employees in relation to the resources invested in the membership every year.
To establish the necessary conditions and methods of work for continuous learning and development of the membership, in order to meet the evolving needs of the future.
Client: CEO and Association Manager.
"Colearn has led an inclusive development process where, together with our members and employees, we have created conditions for the membership of the future. Through their responsiveness and genuine sense of capturing everyone's needs and ideas, they have contributed to a high level of engagement and a significant change in direction in our strategic plan"
Christian Bengtzelius, Association Manager, Riksbyggen
Colearn had a central role in the entire project from start to finish.
Our role was to work together with the CEO and the Association Manager to develop an inclusive and challenging development process, which also created engagement in the journey of change. Throughout the project, we acted as project, process, and innovation leaders in close collaboration with an internal working group.

Solution
We designed and carried out a 14-month inclusive and collaborative development and change process, based on design thinking principles, Colearn's Hybrid Learning Methodology®, and prototyping methods.
With a conscious balance between structure and flexibility, we ensured progress while also being adaptive to insights, new conditions, and opportunities that arose along the way.
We focused on creating strong ownership and internal learning at Riksbyggen by establishing and guiding an internal working group, as well as supporting the client, management, and other key stakeholders to take a clear and active role in the project.
Activities during the process included environmental analysis and research, workshops, processes for distributed idea generation and development, interviews and focus groups, concept development, packaging, and film production.
By involving all parts of the membership organisation, integrated into the annual cycle of local, regional, and central meetings, we maintained engagement throughout the process and ensured that the result reflected the needs of members, employees, and management
The project has had a strong impact on the corporate culture by establishing "value-creating cooperation" as a strategic priority alongside existing overall business goals.
Employee awareness of cooperation has increased and it has become part of all management training and onboarding. The project has also created conditions for the client organization to continue working on implementing the new concept of membership and continuously developing membership through learning and co-creation methods.
