THE MISSION

The mission was to create a modern leadership program for all leaders at Södra Skogsägarna, Sweden's largest forest owners association, within a three-year period and encompass approximately 600 leaders.

The program would be based on:

  1. New science around learning and leadership

  2. New group strategy and leadership competences

  3. The need to create a continuous learning culture that future-proofs the company's development and value creation.

OUR ROLE

Colearn had a central role in the entire project from start to finish.

We facilitated an inclusive and challenging design process that resulted in a brief. In the development phase, Colearn was responsible for program design and content production in collaboration with Södra.

Upon the delivery phase, we were program managers together with Södra and facilitated and coached the leaders together with Södra's former leadership supplier.

SOLUTION

 

We designed and delivered a 21-week hybrid accelerator, based on Colearn's research-based Hybrid Learning Methodology®. The accelerator was created as a training camp in behavioral change and could accommodate up to 80 leaders at a time (to date we have completed 9 cohorts).

We focused on creating ownership and action by having each leader define their own strategic and personal development goals. The leaders acted on these through weekly reflections and small challenging steps. The setup created direct change in the business and gave us the conditions to support the leaders' internal and external resistance to change when it appeared.

The accelerator integrated the learning and change into the leaders' existing infrastructure instead of simulating experiences within a traditional education.

Psychological safety was created in smaller groups where the leaders coached each other in their development and change management and exchanged experiences.

We had the CEO and group management translate the strategy into communicative and personal material and established a common language and tools for learning, change and leadership. Together, this created momentum for a cultural and strategic shift.

 
 
EFFECTS & RESULTS
 

The accelerator achieved an on average 4x increase of the effect goals from the pre-launch measurement.

The organization reports increased experimentation, increased psychological safety and increased ownership/self-leadership.

It has also led to a common language and methods for learning and change in everyday life, which are also used by the CEO and Group management team.
